Ceremonial tool. The ceremony is held before the calving of the reindeer. The wolverine is believed to be the protector of the herd of reindeers from other predators. The ritual is performed by an elder with offering a meal of a whole reindeer (old or sick). The elder asks the wolverine to protect the herds. Where there is a wolverine there are no wolves. The hunt for this predator occurs only in exceptional cases.
