Nivhguŋ (Nivkhi People)

Artwork Description

Letter “N” means Nivkhi. Inside the letter I used a pattern in the form of a wave of the sea. This element is present in all the patterns of the Nivkhi People. It means sea or water. The Nivkhs worship spirits, one of which is the spirit of water – Tol Yzn. Before we take anything from the spirits, we feed them. From the spirit of Tol Yzn we recieve seal, fish, seaweed. This embroidery is done with a chain stitch.
